A cold week!

Greetings Platypuses,

It has been a very cold week but we have carried on with our super learning. There has been lots of good progress in our maths and writing but this week we have been really concentrating on staying green. We have changed over from pegs to a very snazzy Good To Be Green chart with cards and by Friday we had managed a full day when nobody was on white! A fantastic achievement, let’s keep that going next week!

This week’s book was ‘Someone Bigger‘, all about a kite that lifts people and animals off the ground…’This kite needs someone bigger!‘ In the end who was it who could keep the kite from lifting everyone off the ground? (The little boy)

In our writing we have been learning to write instructions, such as instructions for how to make a kite and the order in which to dress a teddy bear. We have been using time sequencing words such as ‘First‘ ‘Next‘ and ‘Then‘.

In maths we have been learning about more and less and tallying. Both are great to practise at home.

Gather two types of your favourite toys – such as cars and dolls – which one do you have more of? Which one do you have less of?

Can you make a tally chart showing different colours and then ask family members, friends or cuddly toys which their favourite is?

Which colour has the most?

Which has the least?

It will be Yellow Team‘s turn for Show and Tell on Tuesday. Please only bring in toys when it is your colour team’s turn for Show and Tell as they can easily get lost 😦

Please wear your PE kit on Monday and make sure all your belongings (school uniform, PE kit, book bag etc.) have your name in/on them.

Remember homework is due in on Tuesday

Have a wonderful weekend full of exploring, reading, writing, sleeping, eating, singing, dancing, playing, talking and of course don’t forget to comment on the blog!

Big Rain Coming + Anti-bullying Week

Greetings Platypuses,

What an exciting week we had with storms and floods and storm shelters!

What is a flood?

We spent time doing independent writing and challenge writing in our shelter from the rain and wrote instructions on how to get ready for wet weather and how to build a shelter. We also began to learn about the story of Noah – you can watch some different versions of it on the playlist below and sing the great counting song as well.

This week we have been talking about bullying and what to do if someone starts to bully us or someone we know. We decorated outlines of hands and wrote the names of people we would talk to on them.

You have the right to be protected from being hurt or mistreated, in body or mind – Article 19, Rights of a Child.

Watch the videos below and talk about them with your adults and other family members.

In maths we have been learning about capacity. What can you say about the capacity of different containers in your home?

Thank you everyone for your contributions on Monday.

It will be Red Team‘s turn for Show and Tell on Tuesday. Please only bring in toys when it is your colour team’s turn for Show and Tell as they can easily get lost 😦

Please wear your PE kit on Monday and make sure all your belongings (school uniform, PE kit, book bag etc.) have your name in/on them.
