This week Cinderella visited! You helped her find her shoe and she introduced us to the story of Chinye which is a traditional tale from West Africa which is similar to the Cinderella tale. We discussed similarities and differences between the two stories and later on in our writing, wrote about them.
Can you tell your adult one difference and one similarity between the story of Cinderella and the story of Chinye?
What was your favourite part in one of the stories?
Which story did you prefer (like more) and why?
We have continued to work to master taking away and are becoming very good at it!
Traditional Tales has been such an enjoyable topic that has inspired us in all areas of our learning. Next term we move onto a new topic – Journeys – but do continue to explore traditional tales and talk about them. Remember the stories themselves are only the starting point, you can use your imagination to change them and make your own version or to inspire an entirely new adventure! Does the wolf always have to be bad? Can’t a princess rescue herself? Is a witch always evil?
Happy half-term! 🙂
Have a wonderful holiday full of exploring, reading, writing, sleeping, eating, singing, dancing, playing, talking, homework, Mathletics and of course don’t forget to comment on the blog!
It will be Blue Team‘s turn for Show and Tell on Tuesday. Please only bring in toys when it is your colour team’s turn for Show and Tell as they can easily get lost 😦
Homework is due in on Mondays…so remember it on our first day back!
Please wear your PE kit on Monday and make sure all your belongings (school uniform, PE kit, book bag etc.) have your name in/on them.
I look forward to seeing you again in a week! 🙂
