Under the sea, oil spills and the lives of chickens

Greetings Platypuses,

I hope you’ve had a fantastic weekend in the sunshine!

This week we have started learning about under the sea. How many different sea creatures can you name? What do you know about them? Do you have a favourite sea creature? Why is that one your favourite?

Earlier this year we spent quite some time learning about how plastic pollution is impacting our oceans and this week we learnt about another type of pollution that can happen…oil spills. We are reading the story Whale Magic in which an oil spill happens. What can you tell your adults about oil spills

In our P4C (Philosophy for Children) session this week we watched an RSPCA video about  the lives of caged hens and free-range hens, both of which provide eggs that we buy in the supermarkets and shops. Learning how terrible life is for hens who live in cages was quite upsetting. We then discussed ‘What can we do to change things for caged hens?’ – see the photos above for our ideas. Can you think of any more ideas? Can you as a family make a change?

Remember on Friday it is our trip to Vauxhall City Farm! Please remember to bring in your permission slips and we do have space for one more adult to accompany us, so please let us know! 🙂

It will be Green Team‘s turn for Show and Tell on Tuesday. Please only bring in toys when it is your colour team’s turn for Show and Tell as they can easily get lost 😦

Please wear your PE kit on Monday and make sure all your belongings (school uniform, PE kit, book bag etc.) have your name in/on them.

I look forward to seeing you again tomorrow.

Love,

Miss Linsley x

Greetings Platypuses!

This week we have been very busy rehearsing our assembly and you worked very hard. Well done for all your effort, Friday’s assembly was super!

You can see a video of the assembly (kindly taken by Mr Fielder) on the ILD. If anyone needs a new login then please let me know and I can sort that out for you.

Our P4C (Philosophy for Children) session this week centred on the question ‘Are dogs better than cats?’ I am impressed with how your reasoning skills are developing – you are able to give real reasons for your answers which is very grown up of you!

Well done again for all your super learning and effort this week little superstars!

On Monday I look forward to seeing your minibeast projects.

Please also bring PE shoes (plimsoles or trainers) for PE on Monday

I hope you have a wonderful weekend full of exploring, reading, writing, sleeping, eating, singing, dancing, playing, talking, homework, Mathletics and of course don’t forget to comment on the blog!
