Funnybones!

Greetings Platypuses,

This week we have been learning more about our bodies, particularly some of the important parts that we can’t see as they are tucked away inside us.

Can you name two parts of the body that are inside us? (e.g. brain, heart, lungs etc.)

What do we call the very important part of us that keeps us standing and gives us shape so we aren’t just jelly on the ground?! (our skeleton

Do you think/know if the brain is a bone or a muscle? (a muscle)

Check out some of the games and videos on the sites below to test your knowledge and learn more 🙂

Now try the questions again, can you answer them with more confidence now?

Here is our The Body playlist 🙂

We enjoyed the story Funnybones this week and even met Mr Skeleton who came to read it to us! What was your favourite part of the story and why?

Here are some more Funnybones stories. Can you notice any similarities (things that are very like each other) between them?

I hope you have a wonderful weekend full of exploring, reading, writing, sleeping, eating, singing, dancing and playing! This week make sure you comment on the blog! I wonder who will win a prize for commenting…

It will be Green Team‘s turn for Show and Tell on Tuesday. Please bring one toy/picture/item of choice if you would like to.Please only bring in toys when it is your colour team’s turn for Show and Tell as they can easily get lost 😦

I look forward to seeing you again on Monday! Please come wearing your PE kit and make sure all your belongings (school uniform, PE kit, book bag etc.) have your name in/on them 🙂

This week we have begun to learn about the rights of a child. Herbert Morrison is very proud to be a Gold Award Rights Respecting school and it is very important that you learn about your rights. Children all over the world have the same rights but sadly they are not always respected. We will be learning more about your rights every week.

We have started our phonics learning and have been practising the following letter sounds:

We have also been learning these tricky words:

the

Practise these and we will be learning new sounds next week.

Some of you are practising blending and segmenting words, the following video will help you to practise.

Next week we will be learning about our bodies. Which different body parts can you already name? Can you learn some more this weekend?

We are still working on developing our green behaviour in school. Have a listen to these songs which will help you to remember how to make good choices

Last but not least our lovely school nurse came to visit us to talk to us about hand washing and show us how important it is! Can you tell your adults what we did with Miss Alba which was super fun and meant we really had to wash our hands?

I hope you have a wonderful weekend full of exploring, reading, writing, sleeping, eating, singing, dancing and playing! This week make sure you comment on the blog! I wonder who will be first to win a prize for commenting…

It will be Yellow Team‘s turn for Show and Tell on Tuesday. Please bring one toy/picture/item of choice if you would like to.

I look forward to seeing you again on Monday! Please come wearing your PE kit! 🙂
