I hope you are enjoying the start of your holidays and if you will be celebrating over the holidays then I wish you a very Merry Christmas! If not, I wish you very happy holidays!

Well done for all your hard work this term, we’ve learnt a lot and had a lot of fun too!

This term our main topics have been the weather and different festivals /celebrations including Diwali and Christmas. Next term our topic will be Traditional TalesA traditional tale is a story that has been told and re-told for many years, and as a result, becomes a story that almost everyone knows. Traditional tales are also referred to as fairy stories or fairy tales.

Which traditional tales do you already know? Do you have a favourite? If so why is that one your favourite? Could you read some more over the holidays?

Here is our Traditional Tales playlist. There are a variety of traditional tales on here from different parts of the world

It will be Yellow Team‘s turn for Show and Tell on the first Tuesday of term. Please only bring in toys when it is your colour team’s turn for Show and Tell as they can easily get lost 😦

Homework is now due in on Mondays so please bring it in on the first day back.

Please wear your PE kit on Monday and make sure all your belongings (school uniform, PE kit, book bag etc.) have your name in/on them.

Have a wonderful holiday full of exploring, reading, writing, sleeping, eating, singing, dancing, playing, talking, homework and of course don’t forget to comment on the blog!

I’ll miss you! See you in two weeks little munchkins!

Love,

Letters, letters, letters

Greetings Platypuses,

At the beginning of the week we received a letter from Father Christmas encouraging us to write letters to him and he included a copy of the book The Jolly Christmas Postman which we have been reading.

So we have been learning how to write letters.

How do we start a letter? (Dear…)

If we are writing a letter asking for something what do we need to say? (please, than you)

What do we need to say at the end of the letter? (‘From‘ and then your name)

In class we have been writing letters to Santa (or someone else of our choice). Who else could you write letters to and for what reasons? (grandparents, friends, parents etc.)

Remember the Carol Concert is this Thursday and Friday!

It will be Blue Team‘s turn for Show and Tell on Tuesday. Please only bring in toys when it is your colour team’s turn for Show and Tell as they can easily get lost 😦

Please wear your PE kit on Monday and make sure all your belongings (school uniform, PE kit, book bag etc.) have your name in/on them.

Homework is now due on Mondays.

Have a wonderful weekend full of exploring, reading, writing, sleeping, eating, singing, dancing, playing, talking and of course don’t forget to comment on the blog!

Greetings Platypuses,

I am rather a fan of Christmas so we have started our festivities a little early in Reception!

We have been learning about the nativity story and have also listened to a fun story called Norman the Slug who Saved Christmas!

Where was baby Jesus born? (in a stable in Bethlehem)

Who visited baby Jesus after he was born? (the shepherds and 3 wise men)

Who was baby Jesus the son of? (Mary and God)

What did Norman the slug use to re-wrap the presents? (his slime)

What did he make out of the wooden sign that he used to deliver the presents? (a sleigh)

Who helped him? (the snails who acted liked reindeer)

Next week we will be learning more about doubling in maths and how to write a letter in literacy.

If you would like to attend our school Christmas Carol Concert and Nativity Tableau then the tickets go on sale on Monday. They are £1 and the shows are the week before the end of term – Thursday 13th and Friday 14th at 2pm.

It will be Green Team‘s turn for Show and Tell on Tuesday. Please only bring in toys when it is your colour team’s turn for Show and Tell as they can easily get lost 😦

Please wear your PE kit on Monday and make sure all your belongings (school uniform, PE kit, book bag etc.) have your name in/on them.

Homework is now due on Mondays.
