A sporty week!

This week we have been getting ready for Sports Day, making cards to celebrate our dads or the other significant adults in our lives and learning yet more about dinosaurs!

Exercise is fun and keeps us healthy. There are so many different kinds of exercise that you can do, so if you don’t like one just keep trying others and you’ll find the one for you!

What is your favourite way to exercise

Can you tell your adult all the different ways you know how to stay healthy

Well done to everyone who took part in Sports Day and a big thank you to all the adults who were able to attend 🙂

Next week we will be using a great resource on the Natural History Museum‘s website to see how the different dinosaurs moved and then we will have a go at moving just like them!

If you would like to order a reusable spider bag painted by your child please let me know. We are making them for the Summer Enterprise Fair (Friday 28th June).

I hope you have had a wonderful weekend full of exploring, reading, writing, sleeping, eating, singing, dancing, playing, talking, homework, Mathletics and of course…fun!

It will be Red Team‘s turn for Show and Tell on Tuesday. Please only bring in toys when it is your colour team’s turn for Show and Tell as they can easily get lost 😦

Please wear your PE kit on Monday and make sure all your belongings (school uniform, PE kit, book bag etc.) have your name in/on them.

I look forward to seeing you again tomorrow.

Love,

Digging up dinosaurs!

Greetings Platypuses!

What a fun week we have had! We have begun our dinosaurs topic which is rather a favourite of mine 🙂

Throughout the week we have started to learn more about dinosaurs and have of course been writing about them as well! We can’t go and visit dinosaurs because they are all gone forever…what is the word that means all of a kind of living thing is gone forever? (extinct)

Super word challenge: What is the name for someone who learns about and finds out about dinosaurs? (palaeontologist

What do we call the type of dinosaurs who eat plants? (herbivores)

What do we call the type of dinosaurs who eat meat? (carnivores)

What do we call the type of dinosaurs who eat both plants and meat? (omnivores)

You may need to do some research to answer the following questions…

Can you name a dinosaur who was a herbivore? (Stegosaurus, Triceratops, Brachiosaurus)

Can you name a dinosaur who was a carnivore? (Tyrannosaurus rex, Velociraptor, Allosaurus)

We haven’t learnt about many omnivores and actually there weren’t many; can you find out about any?

This site has some great dinosaur learning clips on. We watched and discussed ‘Domination to extinction‘.

It will be Blue Team‘s turn for Show and Tell on Tuesday. Please only bring in toys when it is your colour team’s turn for Show and Tell as they can easily get lost 😦

Please wear your PE kit on Monday and make sure all your belongings (school uniform, PE kit, book bag etc.) have your name in/on them.

On Friday it will be Sports Day! Please come to school in your proper school PE kit ready to get started! Adults if you would like to attend, help out and be a part of Sports Day then we would love to have you; please let one of the Reception team know  🙂

I look forward to seeing you again on Monday! 🙂

The Storm Whale and plastic pollution

 Greetings and welcome back Platypuses!

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

I hope you all enjoyed the break, you definitely seem fresh and full of energy for your new term of learning 🙂 It is lovely to be back with you.

This week the whole school has been studying the same book ‘The Storm Whale‘.

What happens in the story?

What would you do if you found  whale on a beach?

What was your favourite part of the story?

We have started an exciting special project all about plastic pollution in our oceans. We started with a 5 minute drawing exercise where Platypuses drew what they thought our oceans looked like; there were lots of wonderful pictures full of happy sea creatures and waves. We then watched some videos and looked at some pictures that showed us what some parts of our oceans and seas sadly look like…full of plastic.

What does plastic in the oceans do to the animals that live there?

How does the animals eating plastic effect us (people)?

Talk with your adults and do some research (finding out), what can you do to reduce the amount of plastic going into our seas

It will be Green Team‘s turn for Show and Tell on Tuesday. Please only bring in toys when it is your colour team’s turn for Show and Tell as they can easily get lost 😦

Homework is due in on Mondays, I have sent home new elephant reminders with the updated day on.

Please wear your PE kit on Monday and make sure all your belongings (school uniform, PE kit, book bag etc.) have your name in/on them.

Have a wonderful weekend full of exploring, reading, writing, sleeping, eating, singing, dancing, talking and of course don’t forget to comment on the blog!

Greetings Platypuses,

Well done for your performances on Thursday and Friday, you did an amazing job!

This week we have been learning some more about polar animals and will continue to do so over the next week.

Can you name some of the animals we have learnt about?

What facts (things which are definitely true) have you learnt about some of these animals?

Learn some more about polar animals using the playlist below!

It will be Red Team‘s turn for Show and Tell on Tuesday. Please only bring in toys when it is your colour team’s turn for Show and Tell as they can easily get lost 😦

The end of term party is tomorrow and party clothes can be worn (don’t worry about PE kit).

You now have the main holiday homework so nothing is due in tomorrow unless you haven’t handed in the phonics book.

Have a wonderful weekend full of exploring, reading, writing, sleeping, eating, singing, dancing, playing, talking and of course don’t forget to comment on the blog!
